Readable clock screensaver with backlight off!

One of the problems with a lot of modern phones with color LCD displays is the lack of visibility when the backlight is off. This screensaver solves this problem, it shows the time in big white letters on a black background.

We bumped into this when we bought the Nokia 6680, the clock was absolutely unreadable without turning on the backlight and unlocking the phone.BigTime Screensaver

We made the screensaver as simple as possible in order to save space on your device and keep the package lightweight.

During the development process we discovered that the 6680 does not support large fonts. This is most likely also the reason that there is no such screensaver available by default.

The phone supports a vector font system named cleartype but that would implicate that we had to bundle a font, expensive and not very lightweight. As an alternative we could use prepared graphics (bitmaps) but this also would not make it a lightweight solutions, something that such a simple screensaver should be.

The best solution we decided was to define the characters as vector graphics using a tool like Adobe Illustrator to define the vector graphics (Bezier curves) and we draw them ourselves. Anyway, just try it and if you like it you register by sending an email to us. No more excuses not to be on time!
