We actually never had this need until Philips decided to bring a telephone on the market that shows the direction to Mecca. We wanted to bring this functionality to the Symbian Series 60 mobile phones. After a little google search we figured out that there is a name for this: qiblah. We had to investigate further, there is a lot more about it than we ever imagined. Even before the computers you could buy (and maybe you still can) a special compass for this: the qiblah compass. Perfect name for the program we thought and after a couple of days of hard teamwork we ended up with this little application, Qiblah. All the application does is show an arrow that points to Mecca. The program uses GPS information from the satelite and should work with any location-device attached to and recognized by your phone. We used a Leadtek Blue-Tooth GPS mouse to test but any other device should work. It was just the only one available in the store around the corner...
